An interesting trio

The replanting and redevelopment of the vineyards of Seyssuelle since 1996 is one of the more interesting innovations in the Northern Rhône Valley. They are situated just north of Vienne, some 10 kilometres north of the vineyards of the Côte Rôtie appellation.
Despite being situated on the opposite river bank, the exposure of the vineyard is comparable to that of Côte Rôtie due to the meandering of the river Rhône.
Local winemakers Pierre Gaillard, Yves Cuilleron and Francois Villard were among the first to re-explore this terroir, known to have been used for wine production in the Roman ages some 20 centuries ago. Many wines produced here, possess Latin names that refer to the Roman times when this vineyard was in use: 'Sotanum', 'Heluicum', 'Serinae', 'Asiaticus', 'Ripa Sinistra'
Since 2006, these three producers decided to bring out their own interpretation of this terroir, with grapes originating from the same vineyard.
