Full, deep coloured, black fruity and often heavy (14+% alcohol) red wine from the syrah grape variety that is called shiraz in the New World. Middle qualities as well are often amply aged on new (American) oak, giving the wines a characteristic vanilla aroma. Can age for a couple of years, but best drunk while their powerful fruit quality is still young.
