Slightly riper and modern style of red wine, often from central Italy and from blends that have sangiovese added to the traditional blend of cabernet-sauvignon and merlot grape varieties. Usually aged on new oak. These wines can age but many tend to loose structure after some six years in bottle. Fruity when young, with noticeable wood ageing and with good acidity, these wine develop moreearthy and less fruit dominated character with ageing.
