High quality red Burgundy, hence from the pinot-noir grape variety and (generally) from single vineyards classified as Premier Cru. Very individual in character. This 'rustic' category encompasses styles of wines from Nuits St. Georges, Pommard and Beaune. Rarely very deep in colour, intense red summer fruity pinot-noir character with meaty and sometimes strongly earthy notes at young age, relatively powerful on palate.The most reserved type, that can be inaccessible when young. Will gain substantially in bouquet and on palate with bottle ageing, aged wines developing more profound earthy notes.
