The most spicy style of red Burgundy. Subtly spicy notes emerging with ageing. This category encompasses village level wines from mainly Vosne-Romanée. Can be somewhat closed at young age, but will always be very aromatic and spicy, developing more earthy and gamey notes and a rich bouquet with bottle ageing.
