Icon quality red Burgundy, hence from the pinot-noir grape variety. From single vineyards classified as Grand Cru or of comparable repute.Highly individual in character. The 'elegant' category mainly encompasses the grands crus from Gevrey-Chambertin and top premiers crus from Chambolle-Musigny and Volnay. Often deceptively pale in colour, yet subtle, delicate and unusually intense at the same time. While often fairly accessible at young age, ageing these wines in bottle will make them develop splendidly detailed fruit, magnificent bouquet and a palate that will literally fan out, with noble earthy, gamey and mineral notes when aged. Very exclusive and (unfortunately) very expensive.
