A red wine made from the Pinot Noir grape, mostly from northern Italy. Fruity with substantial acidity and a hint of the vegetal in aroma and flavour which is characteristic of wines from this very cool climate. Sometimes with a little wood ageing. Generally drink young. Comparable Pinot Noir wines from other very cool climates also fall into this category.
