An almost explosively red-fruity Pinot Noir from the New World, robust in alcohol (14%) with substantial body, lots of fruit and very smooth tannins. Usually clearly wood-aged. The best can age for a few years, but never achieve the aromatic complexity of the greater red Burgundies.
